REPORTS

Treasurer’s Report

  • The Treasurer had nothing to report and the Accounts would be distributed in readiness for the AGM

Secretary

  • The Secretary reported to the clubs that the season had run more smoothly than in previous years and the better weather we had enjoyed had obviously helped.
  • The Representatives present were asked if they could make sure that managers within their clubs contacted the correct person on the management board and by the correct method. The Secretary informed the meeting that the 2010 Handbook would have a simplified League Contacts procedure printed at the front of the handbook to help in this matter.
  • The Secretary was pleased with the conduct by players in the older age groups which had been an issue in the previous two seasons.

Chairman

  • The Chairman thanked all the clubs for their efforts over the season with additional praise for the Tea Ladies and Groundsmen.
  • The Chairman reported that the Executive had received several anonymous letters and informed the Representatives that nothing would be done with the letters except placed in a bin.
  • It was reported that around nine clubs had used the new League sponsors Romida Sports which very much appreciated.
  • The “team entry form”, which was distributed before the start of the meeting was to be returned at the AGM
  • All captains and players of winning teams were invited to the Presentation Evening and reminded the meeting that all 2008 winning clubs and individuals should make sure the trophies were correctly engraved in readiness for the Presentation Evening.
  • The Chairmen reported that he had had some grumblings over the 50% rule this season but informed the meeting that this had been in place for ten to twelve years in order to stop teams playing in the rain, and had worked well.
  • In 2010 a new system will be adopted whereby the two teams in each section would be go through to the final stages in the League. This would mean an extra round of matches effectively Quarter Finals but the Chairman thought there was plenty of time to play these before the normal semi final stages.
  • The Chairman had, had several clubs showing an interest in the New Farnley proposal of 40 over cricket for the under 17s and hoped a form of this outside the current League and cup programme could be adopted for 2010.

Result Secretary’s Report

  • The Result Secretary had issued a full written report on the season to the League Reps.
  • Postponements were still causing a problem with eighteen rearranged or postponed games not being played, it was reported however that this was down on the previous year.

Proposed Rule amendments by the Executive

  • A sheet containing the proposed rule changes had been distributed to the clubs before the meeting and the need to implement the changes were explained to the Representatives, these would then be voted on at the AGM in December.

Child Welfare

  • The CWO issued the members with a comprehensive guide to the wearing of the new grille style helmets by wicket keepers. This also included models of masks/grilles which were not to be used. The ECB were hoping to have laws in place on the types that would be permitted to be worn by juniors but until then only grilles/helmets/masks which have the Australian or New Zealand safety mark were to be used.
  • The CRB survey which was carried pre season had shown that there were a significant number of people managing cricket matches who do not have an up to date CRB disclosure form.
  • The members were advised that a Self Declaration form was only to act as an interim measure whilst the full CRB is completed.
  • Steve Pollard of Gomersal thanked the Executive Members for all their hard work
