Law 6 THE BAT
1. The maximum permissible length of a bat is 38 inches.
2. The maximum permissible width of a bat is 4 1/4 inches.
3. The blade of the bat must be made solely of wood.
4. Any covering must not be of a material which is likely to cause unacceptable damage to the ball.
5. All references to the bat in the Laws imply that the bat is held by the batsman
6.
Any part of a glove, or the hand if no glove is worn, which is holding the bat
is regarded within the Laws as being part of the bat.
Note:: The
whole of a batting glove now counts as the batsman’s hand –
umpires are no longer expected to decide where the striker’s wrist is when it
comes to a question of a catch.
