The
ECBCA, having replaced the former Association of Cricket Coaches (ACC), now expects County Boards to be the
main regional structure for coaching. Yorkshire has always had a Coaching
Committee with representatives of all branches of the ACC on it.
That
committee has become the committee of the YCBCA. The ten existing branches
remain and will be funded through YCB.
We
do urge qualified coaches to join the ECBCA for the insurance membership
benefits it brings with it. It is the only way of keeping up-to-date with
recent advances in coaching methods and requirements. Non-members will
lose their ability to be recognised as coaches in due course.
It
is the policy of the YCB (from January 2003) to employ only those coaches
who are members of the ECBCA/YCBCA
JUNIOR
CRICKET DEVELOPMENT IN THE HEAVY WOOLLEN DISTRICT
It is our aim to give every boy or girl between the age of 7 and 10 the
opportunity to learn the skills of cricket and to introduce them to a
cricket club.
HWDJCL has a mission to identify and develop selected players to represent
the league and county, between the ages of 8 and 17, through quality
coaching and competitive programmes.
As a first step an Under 10 Academy has been created by the league to
ensure our most promising players are chosen to attend a special course of
coaching, which commences early October each year. The Courses are 10/12
weeks long and based on "soft ball" group coaching and games
designed to enhance a players skill level, confidence, knowledge and
understanding of the game including the laws of cricket.
The main function
of the Academy is to act as a feeder to the U11 Lord's Taverners Squad and
thereby provide a link and continuity for representative match selection.
The selection process for the 2007 Lord's Taverners and Joe Lumb squads,
incorporating age groups U11, U13, U15, and U17, is on-going and is held
each year by way of "hard ball" coaching and trials, held
at Woodlands Grammar School commencing in January. Attendance is by
invitation only.

Child
Protection and First Aid Qualifications
It is essential that active coaches ensure they go on a child
protection workshop and a First Aid course (ECB approved) - these are fast
becoming requirements for all ECB approved activities, for all Local
Authority activities and Clubs involved with grant applications will have
to show thety have club members available and qualified in these matters.

COACH DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS(CDWs)
These will include content similar to the previous ECB Level 2
course but new developments have meant that the YCB can include some
updated information that it feels is valuable for coaches at this
level.
ECB are planning on filming some of the early CDWs and producing a
tutor orientation |
